Shamanic Acupuncture

Shamanic acupuncture combines the depth and wisdom of mankind's oldest spirituality and healing with the power of acupuncture.

By itself, acupuncture can treat physical, mental, and emotional issues. Adding in the depth and power of shamanic wisdom and healing allows us to get to the deepest spiritual root of the imbalance that is affecting your wellbeing and restore you back to a place of personal empowerment and healthful alignment.

Acupuncture powerfully treats the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of your being and provides support for any disharmony in your system. Adding in the power of shamanic healing takes these sessions up a notch in their effectiveness as we tend to the deep spiritual root of your specific issue.

Sessions begin with personalized coaching to cultivate a broader and deeper awareness of what is happening for you. The heart of shamanism invites you to embrace your birthright to be fully authentic, fully alive, and deeply connected to the world around you. We will discuss where and why this has gone awry in your life, and how you can reconnect with your wholeness.

The specific acupuncture points I choose will reinforce what we've discussed in the coaching. Once the acupuncture needles have been inserted, I will drum and/or rattle. This will open the lines of communication with your guides and spiritual support team to more deeply understand the spiritual nature of what's going on for you and ask for their assistance. They will share what other spiritual healing is needed to help you come back into balance, health, and peace.

They may indicate it's the time for a specific shamanic healing, such as an extraction or soul retrieval, or they may direct specific drumming and rattling to help things realign in your system. They may also offer specific wisdom or insights for you to make the necessary adjustments to create and maintain a new, healthier life.

Regardless of the specific issue you are dealing with, shamanic acupuncture sessions tend to all aspects of who you are: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

What This Can Look Like

  • A 21-year old with disturbed sleep patterns and suddenly more painful periods stemming from anger at her mom for violating her personal boundaries. We helped her express her anger, get to the heart of her sense of betrayal underneath, and make healthy adjustments to her relationship with her mom. As a result, her pain lessened and she returned to sleeping soundly.

  • A 32-year old with intense social anxiety and migraine headaches were a result of not fully processing their childhood trauma. Through a combination of coaching, acupuncture, and shamanic healing, we helped them not only feel better, but end the cycle of abuse that had been passed down through the generations, so it was not transferred to their children.

  • A 45-year old wished to leave the corporate world and go into business for herself. She felt the pressure of being the breadwinner for her family. The fear of leaving her job, as much as she did not like it, ended up showing up as intense hip pain. Simply acknowledging what she was struggling with helped ease her pain and opened the door for her to begin her own practice as a health coach.

"Not only is my shoulder pain completely gone, but Dave's guidance and wisdom have helped me through many of life's challenges. If you are looking for a healer and are ready to get in touch with where the real pain is coming from, then I cannot recommend enough that you book an appointment to see Dave immediately!" - L.B.

Common Questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

While you occasionally may feel a pinch when the needles first go in, that sensation disappears immediately. You will not feel "needly" during treatment. When you are uncomfortable, it's natural to begin to resist the treatment, ultimately making it less effective. If you feel any discomfort, we will work to adjust things so you are able to rest with ease.

The most common thing I hear after clients experience their first needle is, "Oh, that's it??" This is meant to be a gentle process.

Do you have to believe in acupuncture or shamanism in order for it to work?

No, all I ask is that you are open to the possibility that it will help.

How many treatments will it take until I feel better?

Because I treat you as an individual and base my treatments on what is happening in your life, there are no "supposed tos" when it comes to your healing process.

Ideally, you will begin to feel better after the first treatment. I prefer to see clients initially once a week for four to six weeks to get a clear sense on how the treatments are working. While we all want symptoms to disappear immediately, the path towards the longest success and well-being is to have slow, measured improvements. If things suddenly disappear, they can reappear just as suddenly.

Do you take insurance?

I don't bill insurance companies directly.  I am able to provide you receipts for our sessions for you to submit to your insurance carrier to potentially get reimbursed. If you are concerned about whether you will be reimbursed, please contact Member Services of your insurance carrier.

*Important* - when asking them if they cover acupuncture, also ask if they cover the specific issue that you wish to be treated for. Insurance companies have a history of saying, "Yes, we cover acupuncture!" but the fine print is only for certain diagnoses, or a certain number of sessions.

What about HSA/FSAs?

I do work with HSA and FSAs. If you were issued a debit card for your HSA/FSA, they will often work, no questions asked, in our sessions. If the cards do not work, I can issue a receipt for you to be reimbursed.
